Since I wanted a little more sleep I took the 7:00am Amtrak Cascades instead of the 6:10am Sound Transit Sounder Train.  It paid off, With an extra 45 minutes of sleep being well felt I walked patiently to the station this morning.  I arrived, and as expected, spent considerable more time during the boarding process.  The different way the trains operate is readily apparent.

I boarded and again, hit the snooze button, sleep with a few dazes during my slumber out the window.  The smooth ride kept me in and out of consciousness.  The morning sun hidden by the cloud cover assisted me in remaining away from the awakening world.  I recall seeing Sumner with the queues of people standing at the station while we whisked by at 79mph.  No delay for the Cascades on this run.

I was finally awoken by the conductor announcing the arrival in Tacoma.  We where 2 minutes early, making the run just shy of 45 minutes.  I'm betting the regular Sounder Riders probably would love a 45 minute instead of 55-60 minute commute.  But hey, beats the hell out of driving!

With that, I bid adieu to my week of commuting.  It has been fun, but I must admit that I still prefer my downtown commute consisting of a simple streetcar ride or nice morning walk to work any day.
